With the arrival of the last month of the calendar year, the Autumn in Barbagia festival reaches its peak, lasting from September to December and presenting the traditions, crafts and gastronomy of this historic region.
The Christmas atmosphere can be felt all over the island, many streets and city centres are abundantly and interestingly decorated. In the city centre of Tempio Pausania you can admire original decorations every year, in the village of Senorbi the decorations are inspired by American traditions and in Alghero, in the west, a number of luminous decorations form a Christmas tree directly on the historic fortifications.
New Year’s Eve belongs primarily to the largest cities – Cagliari, Olbia, Sassari and Alghero. They try to attract the visitors to the celebrations of the end of the year with special programs including the big names of Italian popular music.
Daily highest temperatures reach 15 degrees in December and at night the temperatures drop even below 10 degrees, so warmer clothes will come very useful.
