Candelieri

The procession starts from the main square, passes through the historical center, and concludes at the church of Santa Maria di Betlem. The celebrations have been repeated for more than 700 years and are dedicated to the Virgin Mary, who, according to legend, saved the city from the plague.
During the festival, you can also taste very original Sardinian dishes: ‘favata’ – braised beans, ‘monzeta’ – snail stew, or ‘zimino’ – grilled beef entrails.
